Patty decided to run for Senate in 1992 as a voice for Washington workers and families who were not being heard—especially women. Dramatically outspent, Patty ran a grassroots campaign of family, friends, supporters, and public interest groups to beat a 10-year veteran of the U.S. House of Representatives and win the Senate seat. Patty was re-elected in 1998, 2004, 2010, 2016 and 2022.

Prior to Strickland’s election to Congress, she served as Mayor of Tacoma, where she helped transform a city and economy crippled by a deep recession into a destination for families, workers, artists, tourists and entrepreneurs. In addition to attracting over $1 billion in investment for housing and businesses, she was instrumental in investing over $500 million in infrastructure for roads, bridges, transportation, and the Port, creating over 40,000 new jobs in the Tacoma region.

Senator. Nobles remains committed to creating and supporting legislation that emulates the shared values of the 28th   Legislative District.  She is passionate about creating opportunities for the community to access continued learning and used her experience to address the pressing issue of ensuring broadband access for all students. She plans to focus this session on the issues that concerns her constituents, such as housing stabilization, environmental justice, and accessible transportation.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE MARI LEAVITT LD28 POS. 1

Mari joined the Washington State Legislature in January 2019 and immediately began working on priorities for her district. These included: a pay increase for Washington National Guard members who are called in for wildland fire response, a cost of living increase for retired public workers, increased safety measures at state hospitals, sales tax exemptions for affordable housing and for organizations addressing homelessness. She also worked to secure construction projects all over Pierce County.

Born and raised in Pierce County, Dan served six years with the Washington Army National Guard. He is also a 21-year firefighter and 22-year EMT. Since his election, Dan has worked on priorities for his district which include: keeping health care accessible and affordable, generating living-wage jobs and robust workplace protections, and developing transportation infrastructure to support our local economy and maintain our quality of life. He currently serves as Deputy Speaker Pro Tem.
