Democratic Precinct Committee Officer (PCO)

Our goal is to have every precinct represented by a PCO. Therefore, it is essential that we have volunteers step up to serve as appointed PCOs in precincts in which they reside, or substitute PCOs in a neighboring precinct. To become a Democratic Precinct Committee Officer, send your request to the LD28 Chairperson, Ashley Fedan at email@email.com.

Precinct Committee Officer Online Training

Becoming a Precinct Committee Officer offers an opportunity to engage in the political process at the grassroots level.  These roles serve as the fundamental building blocks of political engagement and organization within local communities.  Precinct Officers often have the opportunity to contribute to the Party platform, advocating for policies that reflect the values and needs of their constituents. This can be a powerful way to effect change on a larger scale.

PCOs directly engage with voters in their neighborhoods and is an excellent way to connect with your community, learn about people’s concerns, and work together to address local issues.  PCOs can organize volunteers, lead voter registration drives, and help educate the public about important issues and elections. PCOs work with and in some cases manage volunteers, organize events, and communicate effectively with both the public and political leaders. These skills are transferable to many other areas of life and work!

 PCO Online Training and Resources

Online training consists of 2 parts:  The Precinct Committee Officer Handbook and VoteBuilder.

The Precinct Committee handbook has been designed to provide a blueprint of the responsibilities of a PCO and highlight the best practices and ideas for doing the work. It was designed by PCOs who have done the work in their neighborhoods and developed a series of best practices for success.

VoteBuilder is a powerful software platform developed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and its data partner, TargetSmart Communications. It's designed to assist Democratic campaigns and organizations with their voter outreach efforts. VoteBuilder is essentially a comprehensive database and organizing tool that provides valuable voter information and resources.  To get started, notify the 28LD Chair in writing that you wish to apply for VoteBuilder access. Contact: 28LD Chair Ashley Fedan Afedan@mac.com.
